Chris Whalen views gold primarily as a hedge and a store of value, rather than an asset expected to outperform others. While acknowledging its importance, he suggests that tech stocks and industrial companies offer better growth potential. He advises using gold as a safe haven, especially if economic conditions worsen.
“I think it's more of a hedge. It's a store of value. And I think that's important. But, you know, when you look at the growth of the economy, when you look at the markets, you know, there are other assets that are going to perform better.”
“But gold, I think it's more about the hedge. It's about keeping your powder dry.”
“Uh, you know, and if things go south, you know, you've got a safe haven. But, you know, I don't think it's necessarily the best place to put all of your money right now.”
