Joel Salatin detailed China's strategic 10-year plan, set to conclude around 2030, aimed at achieving complete self-sufficiency in food production. This initiative has led China to significantly reduce its reliance on US soybean imports and establish stronger relationships with South American suppliers. Salatin points out that this shift in global demand, coupled with rising production costs in the US, creates a challenging market for American soybean farmers.
“So, uh, the critical thing to understand is that China, which has been the largest importer of US, uh, soybeans, is on a very definite 10-year plan ending, in I think, 2030, to become entirely self-sufficient on on food stuffs.”
“They they China doesn't want to be dependent on any foreign country for imports.”
“And so this is, this is, um, and they have historically, you know, 10, 12 years ago, uh, they were completely dependent on US soybeans. Today, they're not dependent on US soybeans at all.”
