Tina Fordham suggested that sustained hostilities in the Iran conflict could push Brent crude prices above $100 a barrel. However, she also noted that the White House did not anticipate the war lasting this long or the current Iranian regime remaining in power.
“I don't think that the hostilities will continue at a you know, sustained clip to get over one hundred. I think that that's the kind of magic number.”
“Having said that, the White House didn't expect this war to be going on for as long as it has, and for the regime in Iran to still be in place, and for the people of Iran not to have risen up. It's the law of unintended consequences and you can never plan the perfect ideal scenario.”
