Apple's AI capabilities, particularly its on-device processing via the Neural Engine, largely stem from its canceled autonomous car project. While the company missed the generative AI wave, it's now rebuilding Siri using Apple's own models enhanced with Google's Gemini technology. This partnership allows Siri to access personal data and perform complex tasks, though Apple's long-term goal remains on-device AI processing.
“The magic sauce that Apple was trying to create for the Apple Car was the smartest onboard computer or chip in order to do level five autonomous driving. That chip, they started working on around twenty fourteen, eventually got shrunk down into what they call the neural engine and the A and E, and they put it in the iPhone ten in twenty seventeen, and that's what allowed features like face ID and animoji and augmented reality to work.”
“Today? It's Apple foundation models that have been rebuilt with Google underpinnings. It's Gemini Okay, okay, got it?”
“Well, they launched Siri. Yeah, they launched Siri. They launched Siri in twenty eleven. And I was on another show here the other day and the host was telling me that he asked Siri, he's got the old series still, when is the next FED meeting? I know you guys like talking about that in series. Response was, there are no FED meetings in your calendar. Okay, I have the new serie AI. And so I said, when's the next FED meeting? The next FED meeting? Gave me the date?”
