Economist EJ Antoni criticized the current administration's approach to tariffs, stating that their attempts at reciprocity have not resulted in a truly reciprocal tariff schedule. He noted that the inconsistent application of tariffs has been problematic for markets.
“Unfortunately, this administration's attempts to have reciprocity, well, it just it just hasn't gone well. You know, we still don't have a truly reciprocal um tariff schedule. Unfortunately, that's been incredibly problematic.”
“The kind of slap dash way in which this administration is is putting tariffs on certain things and not on others and the rates are up, the rates are down. It it it has not worked very well. It's been incredibly problematic for markets.”
