Max Spira, CEO of PANGRAM, discussed the company's AI detection tool, which he claims has achieved a false positive rate as low as 0.01%. He explained that the tool uses active learning, comparing AI-generated text with human-written text to identify stylistic differences, even in edge cases.
“And so it took us, um, probably, I think a bit over a year to get our first version of the model that really had this like flagship false positive rate that was significantly lower than everyone else.”
“At, you know, early on, it was, uh, it was one in 1,000 false positive rate, so 0.1%. And now today it's one in 10,000, which is 0.01%.”
“So, so that's really interesting. So you're getting this huge body of human work. You're then mirroring that with AI versions, and training on the trickiest subset of the ones that your detector can't always tell the difference. Is that right?”
