Traveling Through with David Prior · Thursday, July 16, 2026
Nate Berkus discussed the concept of 'traveling through grief,' acknowledging the challenge of returning to places associated with loss. He shared how his experience in Laos, which stemmed from a decision to avoid the coast of Thailand after the tsunami, became a significant and cherished trip, highlighting the importance of embracing new experiences even amidst personal pain.
“It is. And actually, you know, in preparation for this conversation, you had asked me about places that I really love, and one of them is Laos, and that's also connected to my tsunami experience because I had no ticket to go to Laos.”
“And he said, then we won't go. And I remember we were going to stay at an Aman in Thailand, and the next day the manager of the hotel called the Aman and sort of explained the situation, and they said, well, we would welcome him at our property in the one Yeah. I was like, okay, great. So that's how I ended up finding one of my favorite places I've ever been in my life. And that was like an incredible, incredible trip to both Jeremiah and I still think of and hope to bring our children to one day.”
