However, it does offer a ton of flexibility and I think that as the fire movement has kind of grown and matured, we can stand on the shoulders of the giants before us and say, lots of people reach financial independence and then they find themselves working, you know, they pursue these hobbies and one day someone starts paying them for it.

And so I think coastfire acknowledges the reality that for many people, especially people who are ambitious enough to pursue financial independence to begin with, will probably be earning money even after they reach that final number.
