Xinju Wu from NVIDIA explains the unique challenge of the automotive industry's long product cycles, requiring suppliers like NVIDIA to commit to 10-15 years of support for their technology, including chips and AI capabilities. This long-term commitment is considered 'insane' from a Silicon Valley perspective.
“The auto industry is very heavy, you know, it involves massive supply chain, lots of companies, lots of employers, essentially. And to make a change on the architecture, and when we push out a car, you have to support it for 10, 15 years.”
“For the drive technology, we supply, including chips and, uh, you know, uh, uh, AB technology, we will have the commitment to support for the same generation for 10, 15 years, right? Even for the current generation chip. If you think about from, you know, Silicon Valley, from a silicon provider, it's almost insane.”
