OpenAI has released GPT Live, an updated version of their real-time voice model, previously rumored as 'BD' or bidirectional. A key feature highlighted is the ability for the model to interrupt and be interrupted, creating a more natural conversational flow. The model also demonstrated impressive performance in generating exact transcripts of conversations.

“The thing with the model is that it it it is snappier. Um, they did a good job with the app in terms of, uh, using tool calling, so asking it to search the web, fetch information, give you a nice dynamic display of information. All that is good. I like that.”
“And what was really interesting to me is it was able to do that. And it read off the words that both of us said. So that was a very cool thing. So when you think about it from a transcript standpoint, like using it as a note taker or some version of that is really cool.”
