Nick reports that recent data points on Reddit show American Express is no longer automatically pooling membership rewards points when opening new cards, instead creating separate accounts unless explicitly linked during the application process.
“If you open a new Amex card that earns membership rewards points, I think at some point during the application process, it might give you the opportunity to merge that automatically with your other membership rewards points.”
