Brent Rentmeister explained that historical generational cycles, such as the 40-year rising interest rate period from 1941 to 1981, suggest we might be on the cusp of another long-term upward cycle in rates. He noted this environment puts pressure on traditional portfolios compared to the falling-rate era experienced by baby boomers over the last 40 years.
“And now we're just on the cusp of perhaps breaking out into another 40-year cycle. And I think history would suggest the direction is up. which would put pressure on a lot of things.”
