Jesse Kramer expresses caution regarding newer, active-themed ETFs, suggesting they often come with higher fees and lack academic rigor. He likens some thematic ETFs to 'jokes' or 'memes' rather than serious investment vehicles, recommending avoidance for serious investors.
“I'm not an expert on these thematic ETFs, not an expert. From what I know, I'm going to lean toward out.”
“Well, for one reason, they are likely they come with higher fees, right? You're not going to get a thematic investment at, you know, hundreds of a percent. It's probably going to cost you half a percent or something like that. So higher fees, always a little cautious there.”
“Another reason why is that, I would want my investing philosophy to have some academic rigor. If I had my choice, I want it to be a little bit, you know, robust. A lot of these thematic ETFs are more, they're more like jokes than anything else.”
