In contrast to ThorChain, Nier's Intents protocol, through its SHIELD feature, aims to prevent illicit activities. SHIELD operates at the validator layer, identifying anomalies and chain analysis signals to refuse trades with high-risk entities. This approach offers a more controlled and security-focused cross-chain trading experience.
“However, Nier has a protocol called SHIELD, which sits at the validator layer, which basically looks for anomalies as well as looking for reports of hacks and, you know, kind of chain analysis type signals and so on, and will refuse to trade with people or sometimes even stop people who are demonstrated to be high risk and therefore Nier does not want to facilitate that kind of activity.”
“The conversation that has arisen is, is this decentralized? Is this good? Is this bad? Is Thorchain liable? Is Nier not liable? You know, how do we think about this?”
“I think the Nier model is probably the best model of, like, balancing... being... as close you know more decentralized but providing some censorship when it's assets that there's kind of a valid reason for stopping”
