Harness Engineering: Enterprises Owning AI Intelligence

Shawn Wen explains that enterprises want to own the intelligence of AI, not just buy it. Since owning the models is too costly, they focus on 'harness engineering' – building the interface and control layer – as the only way to in-house and customize AI. This allows them to leverage various models while maintaining control over their brand and customer interactions.

“Enterprises acknowledged that artificial intelligence is going to be a very important technology for them to own not just buy they wanted to own them they obviously wanted to own the entire brand the entire like you know like ideally models as well but they know they cannot own the models because they don't know how to tune the model and it costs a lot they have they need to have a lot of gpus they don't have the budget for it so they gave up on the models”

“They wanted to own the entire intelligence themselves The only way for them to own is to own the harnessing so that's why I think a lot of enterprises up in to build their own harnessing because everyone is considered that this is such an important technology they need to in-house and the harnessing is the only thing they can do to in-house currently”
