The podcast host addressed a listener's curiosity about how encore episodes are chosen, stating that download counts do not influence the selection. He explained that the process is now almost entirely random and that he simply looks for an interesting episode published at least a year prior.
“Well, Kristen, an episode's download count actually has nothing to do with whether it's selected for an encore episode nowadays. The process is almost totally random.”
“When I run one, I just look for something interesting that was published at least one year ago.”
“And the truth is, there isn't a whole lot of variance anymore in episode downloads. There's some, but it isn't enough that I'd make decisions around it.”
