Despite concerns about rising tuition costs and student loan debt, a college degree continues to be a significant factor in achieving financial success on average, according to Dr. Jean Twenge. While exceptions exist, particularly in trades like construction, a degree generally leads to higher lifetime earnings.
“But if you're looking at the overall average trajectory, it's going to make a big difference. You know, for your average person who you know, the choices maybe you know, working at a kind of regular corporate job, that college degree is going to make a huge difference in your income over time.”
“Yeah, I mean, at least on average. Of course, there's exceptions. You know, if you're someone who really wants to go into construction, you can absolutely do extremely well.”
“Fifty six percent of people say right now that a college degree doesn't make sense, that it's not as valuable as it used to be.”
