Data centers are increasingly seen as symbolic avatars for broader concerns about AI, workforce disruption, and a general crisis of trust in technology companies. This perception means addressing practical concerns about data centers may not be enough to assuage public apprehension.
“Yeah, I wonder if at this point, you know, addressing some of these practical concerns is enough or whether data centers have turned into kind of a symbolic avatar for concerns about the technology about these companies in general, um, distrust, you know, even even discontent about the economy and things like that that they seem to have become this sort of, um, avatar for all kinds of of concerns that may take longer to unwind.”
“Absolutely. And I mean, I think more general, um, concern, uh, worry about AI, about workforce disruption. And in fact, the tech clash. It's really just a crisis in trust. That don't trust data center developers or AI companies to be good actors. People are increasingly very concerned about, about the risks that AI poses. And, um, the solutions to that is, uh, there isn't going to be simple.”
