OpenAI has revealed more details about instances where their AI agents did not behave as expected, referring to these as "alignment issues." James Wilson criticized OpenAI's framing of these incidents, suggesting it's corporate spin rather than a true misalignment with instructions.
“Yeah, and, uh, meanwhile, OpenAI has disclosed more details of AI agents not doing what they should. Um, I mean, is there anything novel in this latest batch, James?”
“Well, I guess there's two things here. First of all, they've said that this is how framework of how we're going to report, uh, alignment issues as they call it from from here on out, and then they've detailed six individual cases.”
“It was not a nuclear accident. It was an alignment issue. I mean, I reckon we should just try to steal this terminology for all sorts of industrial accidents. It's, you know.”
