All-In with Chamath, Jason, Sacks & Friedberg · Monday, September 28, 2026
Jason Fredberg shared his frustration with serving on boards, describing it as painful to watch invested companies not follow advice, or conversely, to effectively be the CEO when founders aren't leading. He advocates for a hands-off approach: find great entrepreneurs, give them money, and "never look at it again." Fredberg believes this approach generally leads to better outcomes than active involvement in management.
“It's so painful to watch companies you invested in. You know, and like, you know, if you, uh, you spend time on boards, that's why I don't join boards anymore.”
“You're sitting on a board, you advise a CEO, and they don't listen to you and you pull your hair out like, I would have done something different, why didn't you do this?”
“And then the flip side is, if that's really what you're passionate about and you have the agency, it's to step in and do it yourself.”
